Discussion about development in Halifax has reached the height of absurdity.
A week ago members of the city’s heritage advisory committee voted 6-4 against Waterside Centre, a development proposed by Ben McCrea’s Armour Group, an infill office project that incorporates the Sweet Basil, O’Carroll’s and Subway restaurants and that would rise six floors above them.
McCrea says the four buildings affected are structurally and financially obsolescent. "They’re completely unusable in their present form." His proposal, designed by architect Andy Lynch, would connect the buildings and retain their historic facades.
