Slightly Crazy? Come To Greek Fest!
Slightly Crazy? Come To Greek Fest! With summer almost (better arrive soon or I'll kill myself) here, festivals are beginning to pop up (See Apple Blossom) all over the province.

This weekend marks the Annual Greek Fest which is to be held at the Greek Orthodox Church on Purcell's Road in "gasp" Spryfield. This is an exciting event for many in the Greek community as they get a chance to celebrate their heritage through eclectic dance routines, exotic foods, and drinking yay!

In addition to our city's healthy Greek population, this event is also incredibly popular among young people of all color and backgrounds. Thinking back to my high school years, this was one of the only public events where under-age kids would go to drink. This of course, resulted in numerous violent incidents which has in turn, upped the police presence at Greek Fest with seemingly every passing year.

Despite its dubious reputation, Greek Fest can still make for an enjoyable time for those of us mature enough to handle it. The food alone, from souvlaki to moussaka makes this yearly festival worth attending. If you're still unsure about treading the waters at this outdoors shindig, consider this: I, at some point during the festival will be taking part in a traditional Greek dance ON-STAGE. To make it more challenging, I'll be attempting it while drunk. I mulled over trying to balance a case of beer on my head but I decided that would be too much.

Seriously, who can turn down the opportunity to watch someone get seriously injured? I know I can't. Like the time I dared my six year old neighbor to kick the hornets nest outside of my house. "No no Timmy, hornets don't sting. They give you kisses!"

UPDATE *** I'll be reporting more on Greek Fest later on this week. Plus keep an eye out for some grainy, terribly shot footage of me dancing during the festival.
